 After looking at the pictures of green fecal matter and hearing the stories of people who cleaned that gunk out of their system there are many more people who want to get on the colon cleanse train and start seeing results for themselves. I know I myself want to get on a cleansing program and clear my body of the green slime that’s in it! But are they all made the same? Here’s the scoop on colon cleansing.

No doubt you have seen that and heard that many times. But why does our body get backed up and full of junk then? Because it can’t do the work properly if we are not treating it right.

If there is a problem in the colon like constipation and fecal matter drying to the walls then the real message is that we have a problem upstairs in the digestive track. Eating while stressed, not chewing food properly, not enough acid in the stomach, or not enough liquid coming through.

That said I do believe it’s a good idea to give your body a rest from all the crap we are exposed to and eat. A colon cleansing diet would consist of fruits, vegetables, berries, clean meats, oils, nuts, seeds, beans, legumes, and whole grains. I’m a vegetarian myself so I obviously don’t include meat in my diet and neither would any other vegetarian. But for the most part you want to design a diet around those foods. 

Stay hydrated! Drink up! When you get enough water and stay well-hydrated, among many other things, it makes digestion easier, and cleanses you out by lubricating and providing material to absorb the soluble fibre. After a meal or a snack make sure to throw back a glass of water. This will ensure you are getting properly hydrated, and when you're thirsty, drink water instead of soda.

Are Colon Cleansing Kits Safe?

Well if you use colon cleansing kits whose products are made up of chemicals and herbally based products they may not be and may cause more harm then good.

When it comes to natural colon cleansing products, the government doesn’t regulate it so essentially their safety, purity, and potency cannot be guaranteed. And, each state has its own rules about whether or not practitioners must be professionally licensed. So really it’s a risk you take when you start a new pill. There may be side effects or there may be nothing depending on what you are taking.

In my opinion, and many others opinion, the best colon cleansing and safest colon cleansing 'kit' would be by naturally improving your lifestyle starting with nutrition.

You can increase your fibre intake with a variety of fruits and vegetables. You can also increase your fluid intake which keeps that fibre moving through your body and doing the job it needs to do.

Exercise is also important because it stimulates bowel activity and helps to tone and strengthen your colon muscles.

Another fault that many people are guilty of is not responding when your body says it has to go. You need to go when you feel that urge. This helps to maintain awareness of your colons reflexes and ensure soft and flexible stool. Hold out on your bowel movements and they dry out and become hard.

Remember that bowel frequency is unique to you. So just because your friend goes three times a day doesn’t meant that the only way to “go”.

Also you need to relax. Stress on the body affects so many areas including your digestive system.  All those things that relate to stress like nervousness and nausea can lead to problems with irregularity.

I remember a friend of mine who used to do a two minute bathroom break always and was quite proud of it. Don’t rush it out because anything that gets left behind can dry up. Take time to relax on toilet but don’t remain on the toilet for longer than 10 -12 minutes as it can cause hemorrhoids.

So the question of “can I make homemade colon cleansing kit?” really becomes “Can I change my lifestyle and eating habits up?”

I do sometimes take a mixture of bentonite clay and psyllium   husk. You can go to any health store and look at a bottle of bentonite clay and it will show you what you need to take with it and how much.

Most colon cleansing products will work as a laxative. So if you go out and buy pills you probably get a good dose of natural laxative in there. While this is of course helpful in getting your bowels moving it’s only a short term solution to keep them moving. I have seen many colon cleansing reviews like the following samples. These include reviews like “I am a return customer over and over again because my health demands it.” And “When I stopped taking the pills after I ran out, I noticed my skin started to return its old state. After about 4-6 months I then ordered another bottle of each and within just a few weeks my skin condition once again cleared up.”

While that may sound like a good thing “...my skin condition once again cleared up.” It’s really not. It just means that these pills are covering up an underlying condition that you have which will reappear every time you stop taking the pills. Plus long term use of laxatives can aggravate or upset the balance of bacteria in your colon and hinder normal bowel functions.

The solution is to take more long term action then just to take pills or herbs on a consistent basis. If you want to get off the pills and cleanse your body naturally and permanently I suggest learning more about nutrition, stress reduction, exercise, and other facets of your lifestyle that will create a healthy working body.
